Salt Lake City - June 17, 2004 - Dr. Denis Lin, President and CEO of Tandem Labs, a division of NWT, Inc., was among 32 Utah finalists competing for the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award in Salt Lake City, Utah.
The entrepreneur awards program is designed to recognize entrepreneurs who are building and leading dynamic and growing businesses. The program honors entrepreneurs through regional, national and global awards programs in more than 100 cities and 35 countries. Being recognized as one of Utah 's leading entrepreneurs is an honor that both Dr. Lin and Tandem Labs accepts with pride.
Dr. Lin has been a successful entrepreneur for more than 23 years. Dr. Lin has founded and co-founded two science-based companies, ETC, an environmental testing laboratory, and National Express Laboratory, Inc. Both organizations grew through Dr. Lin's aggressive leadership and were positioned in the market for financially lucrative acquisitions. He has a unique ability to marry the requirements of both business and science into successful organizations.
In 1994, Dr. Lin was appointed President and CEO of Tandem Labs, which operates two facilities (Salt Lake City, UT and West Trenton, NJ). Tandem Labs is a leading provider of advanced bioanalytical services in new drug development for the pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical industries.
Tandem Labs currently provides three distinct but related service lines: (1) Tandem Labs' Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) services include method development, method validation and sample analysis for regulated preclinical and Phase I-IV clinical protocols; (2) Tandem Labs' discovery support services include method development, metabolite identification, and sample analysis for non-GLP-regulated discovery and preclinical studiesl; and (3) Tandem Labs' validation of products and services.
Like many business owners, Denis Lin's goal for Tandem Labs is to become a market leader. To achieve this goal, Lin plans to stay a step ahead of others in the market by innovating new technology and delivering the best service. Lin feels his success in helping pharmaceutical companies gain FDA approval is more than just laboratory work. "What we do, I feel is a contribution to the human race," comments Denis.
